Sei Hong Cheng: Splendor in the Grass
“I come from a single-parent family. I could not understand what love is, but at the same time, I was eager to find out what it means to me. I've been looking into different art forms—like novels, poems, music, plays, and films—to find an answer. But unfortunately, most of them portray love in predictable ways: through loneliness, sex, beautiful couples, or families together...
In my photographs, love seemed to be full in the empty spaces. Maybe love is simply present in our daily lives: when we eat, when we walk down the street, under the tree, on the edge of a cliff, in front of a painting. Perhaps love is just about simply being with someone.”
